What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
- Wi-Fi that every phone in the room is on.
- To show the mix on a big screen: a USB-C or Lightning to HDMI adapter for the mixing phone, or AirPlay.
The phones don't find each other
- Check every phone is on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network or cellular.
- Allow Local Network when Varp asks, or turn it on in the iPhone's Settings › Varp › Local Network. Without it the phones can't see each other.
- Some venue and hotel Wi-Fi blocks devices from seeing each other. If the mixer is running but not found, type its address under Settings › Compositor on each phone. A phone hotspot or a small travel router avoids the problem.
One phone looks choppy on the mix
Older phones can't send full HD fast enough. Pick a smaller format under Settings › Broadcast: 720p30 is the lightest. iPhone 12 and older start there.
Nothing shows on the external screen
The mix appears on the screen plugged into the mixing phone. Another phone's screen shows only that phone's own picture.
The screen locks while I play
Fullscreen (the arrows in the title bar) keeps the phone awake, and so does the mixer.
