Privacy policy

Varp is a live-visuals app for in-person events. It has no accounts, no servers, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer receives nothing from it.
Camera
Some visuals are made from the camera. While you play one, the picture it makes is sent over the local Wi-Fi network to the device acting as the mixer, which may show it on the room's shared screen. It is not recorded or sent anywhere else.
Microphone
If you turn on audio reactivity, the app listens to the room's music and analyses it on your phone. Audio is never recorded or sent anywhere.
Local network
Varp finds other Varp devices on the same Wi-Fi and exchanges video and control messages with them directly. Nothing goes over the internet.
On your phone
Varp stores its settings and a random device id on your phone, so it rejoins the room as the same performer. Deleting the app removes the settings.
This website
varp.jpp.fyi counts visits with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores no personal information: only totals such as page views, referring sites and countries.
